"Stayed here recently with several friends, and we were all just blown away by this place. The cabin itself is gorgeous and huge. Even though there were eight guys, none of us felt cramped or stifled in the cabin. The kitchen is huge and has everything you need. The living room furniture is very comfortable. Bedrooms and bathrooms were all nice. The view from the deck really sealed the deal. That's where we spent most of our time. The cabin about a five minute drive from Idyllwild town center, so it's nearby some places. There are also some hiking trails nearby. Make sure you pay attention to the driving directions provided as it can be easy to miss a turn here and there. After we left, we were all talking about staying here again."

Very Idyllic Lodge

"I recently rented the Idyllwild Lookout Lodge for my birthday/pre-Thanksgiving celebration and my party and I had a wonderful time. The Lodge is as advertised, beautiful, comfortable and well kept. There was ample room for everyone in my party and plenty of things to do. Some people went hiking while most of us stayed in the lodge to relax and take in the beautiful views from the deck. We had such a great time that we may have to rent the lodge again! Thank you Keifer's for all your help!".

      "We had a large family get together for the Thanksgiving holiday at this cabin.  I cannot say enough good things about this whole experience.  The pictures on this site are beautiful, but they don't even compare to how beautiful everything is when you see it in person.  I can't imagine there are better views in all of Idyllwild.  The sunsets/sunrises were spectacular, and being able to view them from the decks and just about everywhere in the house was amazing.  Not only that, but the artwork inside the cabin is incredible.  I wish I could buy every piece!  The amenities were first rate, and the kitchen had everything needed for our Thanksgiving dinner.  The entertainment room is beyond compare with the endless selections of wonderful movies, books and games.  For the first time in a rental experience, I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this place!  Thank you to the Keifers for the great communication and helping us set this all up.  We truly couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay in a more beautiful mountain setting.  :)"

Sit Atop the World

Lookout Lodge sits high atop the world on an acre of land commanding spectacular 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains and national forest. You can wake up to the sunrise or drink a glass of wine while watching the sunset – catching a glint of the sea in the distance if the conditions are right.

Inside, the 4,000 square foot home boasts four bedrooms (two masters), three bathrooms, a fully outfitted kitchen, a dedicated dining room, a common room with river rock fireplace and a media room filled with hundreds of DVDs and games. The house is decorated with original art courtesy of owners (and internationally renowned artists) Jim and Kathleen Keifer, which you can buy at a discount. The spacious gardens are landscaped with wildflowers, pine, oak, Manzanita trees, and are filled with intimate clusters of outdoor furniture arranged to take in stunning views.

The property also features a pond, waterfall, and rock formations decorated with Native American acorn-mortar bowls. The grass lawn is perfect for croquet or bocce ball – the gear is included. Play on the Ping-Pong table, lounge on the outdoor daybed and wraparound craftsman-style decks.  Put on a production in the Puppet Theater. At night, soak in the hot tub while watching shooting stars, or have a barbecue on the top-of-the-line grill.

 This location is extremely private, perfect for family gatherings and small retreats. It sleeps twelve and the bottom level can be closed off from the other two as an easy way to separate groups.
